#2 New Forums for Lakeridge Software

Posted by Chris on 07 October 2012 - 11:47 PM

Welcome to the new forums for Lakeridge Software. These new forums are a result of the old forums being hacked to the point where I cannot restore the old forums safely. Also, the upgrader currently will not run properly due to the amount of corruption in the site. This was my fault in that I was using software that was several years old. I'm hoping with the new IP.Board software that I will be able to maintain it a lot better.

So, I'm sorry about the inconvenience. Hopefully, though, it won't stop feedback so that I can improve my software for you.

#454 To Design Mode or Not To Design Mode

Posted by Chris on 06 December 2012 - 11:37 AM

So, this is mainly for those who used WisBar Advance Desktop in the Windows Mobile days, but anyone can chime in.

In WAD there was the idea of a design mode where you could make all of the changes to your theme. You could then leave design mode and use your theme without accidentally making any changes.

In Android, most everything on your launcher happens when you tap and hold, thus preventing accidental changes as it's not often that you tap and hold on anything unless you intend to change it.

My current thoughts on this are to include the design mode where you can make any changes to your interface that you want. Then, when you're not in design mode, you can still tap and hold on the grids to add or remove items (my current plan is to allow standard shortcuts, app widgets, etc. in the grids, which you can place and size any way you want). But the main interface stays put. This could possibly allow for additional actions on the tap and hold action.

Alternatively, I could make it more like every other Android launcher with no design mode, allowing you to change the interface at whim.

If anyone has any opinions on either approach (or if you have a different idea altogether) I would love to hear from you.

#599 Bug: task dates are decreased during synchronization

Posted by Aleksey Yablokov on 03 January 2013 - 11:23 PM

For example.
On Android Due Today I created a task with 'Start' on 10.01.2012. Then synchronized with 'Due Today sync service'. On Window Due Today the task has 'Start' on 09.01.2012. Also 'Start time' was setted to 8pm, but on Android it was 'None'.

#724 Feature Request: Buttons to compress view of project hierarcy

Posted by Morgan on 10 January 2013 - 11:30 PM

Another request from previous experience with Windows mobile products.

In the projects view, the entire list of all nested projects shows on the screen, forcing the users to scroll thru a potentially very long list.

It would be really useful to have a button appear beside each project to expand/compress it, along with the ability to globally expand/compress the entire collection with another button as well.

Thanks

Morgan

#699 all kinds of trouble

Posted by hoekzemaar on 09 January 2013 - 05:13 AM

First of I am having major issues with both Android and Windows apps. The Windows app won't even open anymore. I assume the sync is causing problems as I got regular sync error messages.

The Android app kept syncing tasks and then either hanging or giving errors. Opening the app would take up to a minute or more. When I finally managed to turn sync of it still won't open properly.

I would go ahead and reinstall the app but I don't want to lose all my data. There are 15 projects and more than 100 tasks in there.

On top of this I have one more minor bug. When manually sorting the tasks on android it doesn't show the correct order when viewing in the next list. This kind of defeats the point of a next list if the task order is incorrect.

#639 Couple of issues

Posted by hoekzemaar on 05 January 2013 - 03:22 AM

First of I am really pleased with both the windows and the android version. I do however have some issues. Right now sync problems mean I can't use both versions so I am sticking to just android till this gets sorted.

1. No way to select start date without due date in windows version. This is possible on Android

2. No way to make a project repeat as opposed to just individual tasks. I would find it a lot easier to have the option to set a project to repeat.

3. I want to be able to set a start date for a project. This doesn't seem possible yet.

4. If I set a start date later it still shows up in next actions. I can work around this with a filter but it doesn't seem right.

Hopefully these issues will be addressed and sync flawlessly with windows. That would make it a lot better for me.

#555 Deleted Contexts, Due Today no longer Syncs

Posted by danny on 29 December 2012 - 11:51 AM

Hello,

Whenever I try to delete contexts I cant sync Due Today for Windows.  If I recreate the contexts, syncing resumes.  Android will still sync.  Here is the troubleshooting I have tried.

1.  Remove sync from Due Today for Windows and clear all tasks, contexts, projects etc...
Resync

2.  Login to Toodledo and remove contexts and then try the above method - not resolved.

3.  Enabled "context" views in Toodledo - not resolved.

Below is a picture reference.

#696 Sync Error

Posted by pickles on 08 January 2013 - 10:45 PM

Hi, I'm using Due Today 1.7.3.1044 on Windows XP Professional 32bit.
It's amazing software.

But today I can't synchronize data to toodle do.
When I press sync button the app show following error.

----
Sync Error
The following error was encountered while trying to sync:
Response (Adding Tasks): You didn't send any tasks to add.(Exception)
Response:
{"errorCode":4", errorDesc:":"You didn't send any tasks to add."}
(ToodleDo): Pushing new tasks.
----

I tried Sync Settings > Reset Sync Data, change Sync Service to None and back to ToodleDo,
Uninstall the app then reinstall.
But occurs same error.

Plz help.

#515 Due Today no longer syncing with Toodledo

Posted by mikenanimous on 19 December 2012 - 10:34 AM

I had Toodledo open in my browser and was updating tasks and moving things around. I then pressed sync on my phone to sync the updates from Toodledo without a problem.

Then I changed the repeat setting on a task on my phone from "every 1 month" to "on the first Sunday" and tried to sync. The first time I synced the task showed up in Toodledo, but without the repeat setting. I synced again and the repeat setting disappeared on my phone. I then set the repeat setting on my phone and resynced. Nothing happened.

At this point I tried creating a test task and tried syncing but nothing changed on Toodledo or my phone. I can no longer get Toodledo and my phone to sync anything.

I've tried deleting my tasks on Toodledo and syncing, clearing the sync settings on my phone, uninstalling and reinstalling the app, and all of these in different combinations.

Am I missing something? Has anyone else run into this problem?

I'm running Due Today 2.0.8.150 on android 2.3.4 stock and using a free Toodledo account.

#120 Malfunction of "next" menu

Posted by deshif on 17 October 2012 - 12:24 AM

Manual sorting tasks in a project does not work and does not affect tasks displaying in the list of "next" menu.
Why does then "next" menu need for?

#119 Wisbar Launcher Request List

Posted by LeSScro on 16 October 2012 - 11:58 PM

Lot of you use wisbar on Windows mobile and now migrate to Android...
Android OS is powerfull and fully responsicve OS but have some inconvenient and advantage...

Design an UI is hard (iPhone, Windows Phone, Mozilla & cie) and on Android there is no way to create a real alternative UI like Wisbar on WInmo.

Then i try to have from Veteran and New some inspiration and idea to help chris in good direction.

# My Wishlist :
- Ability to reproduce a big part of Wisbar WinMo version
- Ability to create/export skin in apk format ( a must have to use market feature)
- Maybe add a contest (beta tester to have a default UI)
- Add dock feature, slide feature in object (like volume slider), add slide feature in page (up, down, left and right)
- support edit mode for final users... i remember use mortscript to create a new LNK with specific image more easily than grid feature...
i talk about, i made a specific icon, and user can only use MY Icon list !

Update list
- ability to hook/intercept all notification, will be un to create a good notification visual to match with a theme
- Can dock can scroll in same time and at different position not only go out of screen, maybe more hard... but i have a small dock, i want it push only other in his way not eject him !!

... i will add more and try to add all entry in 1st post !!

Massamino

- I'd love to see an Ansbar ;-) launcher as well.

PDAXpert

- i'd like to see an element, that follows touch coordinates.

Cheers.

#637 ToodleDo Sync Issues

Posted by Chris on 05 January 2013 - 01:14 AM

I've fixed just about every synchronization issue that has been identified with ToodleDo syncing, except one (and it's a big one).

Currently, Due Today maps its projects to ToodleDo's folders. Due Today currently allows you to create subprojects, but ToodleDo does not support subfolders. When I started fixing the issues I used my existing structure, which ended up causing duplicate tasks. This was because I had several subprojects with the same name. And, since ToodleDo didn't allow Due Today to map these correctly, I ended up with broken links in that the tasks belonging to these projects. ToodleDo removed the project associations. Then, when I synced again the tasks didn't match up and created duplicates.

I bring this up because I am faced with a choice. I am currently contemplating removing the subproject feature when the sync method is set to ToodleDo. Then, I would make it impossible to create multiple projects with the same name. I had wanted to create the full hierarchy in the folder name (i.e. "Project : Sub Project : Sub Sub Project"), but ToodleDo also has a 32 character limit. So, any duplicated projects would be named Project, Project 2, Project 3, ... Finally, I would  remove the existing hierarchy. Essentially, I would be making the projects act exactly like ToodleDo's folders.

So, my question for everyone here is this: would these changes be acceptable when using ToodleDo? Or, should I attempt to find another way to make this work?

#723 Feature request: Multiple contexts per task

Posted by Morgan on 10 January 2013 - 11:04 PM

Current Android user considering the windows version as well.

I recall that on the old forums there was a discussion on the implementation of multiple contexts per task, and a possible commitment to add this capability to a future release of due today.

Am I remembering this correctly?
If yes, will we see this anytime soon?

It's something I really value and miss from Windows mobile . .

Thanks

#716 Location based alarm..

Posted by inabyss on 10 January 2013 - 10:38 AM

I wonder if you have any plan to add 'location based alarm' feature in future release..

Actually I'm quite happy with just the current version, and if you can add the location feature, it would be even better!

#675 Is there a way to "select all" when batch editing tasks?

Posted by spiffyjacket on 06 January 2013 - 10:07 PM

I have hundreds of tasks, the ability to select all in a particular view is an essential feature for me.

#91 Previous Versions

Posted by Jim on 12 October 2012 - 07:27 AM

This is a response to Chris' request for feedback on the new version but I thought it was better to post as a new topic since it's not specific feedback on the interface.

As usual, I admire your willingness to listen to your users and actively seek their feedback. I want to evaluate the new version and contribute to improving it as much as anyone but as in all the previous releases, I find myself afraid to update the app at first.

I will typically monitor the forums for the first few weeks to see what bugs users report and and try to determine how critical the issues are to the functionality of the app before I can commit to updating. I've stuck with this app through many releases over all others because as someone previously pointed out, no one else implements a GTD system as well as you and it's obvious how hard you work on this.

I think everyone understands that developing for the android platform implies that every new version of an app is essentially a beta release and that's not just Due Today. Sometimes it's a particular device that won't play nice, sometimes a compiler error, sometimes just an overworked developer, we get it. For those of us that really rely on the app however, the thing that makes it so daunting is that when serious bugs appear, we're not talking about losing the latest high score or custom settings on your favorite game, it can be crippling. It's not just your phone that's suddenly stopped working, it's your life .

My question is, would you consider making previous versions of the app available so that in the event that a particular bug really creates a serious usability problem, the user has the ability to revert to what was working until the issues can be addressed?

I have seen other developers do this for instance by making the previous apk available outside of the market until the fix for the new version was available.

Thanks

Jim

#88 About the text vs background bug... We need a fix ASAP!

Posted by Wizzu on 12 October 2012 - 06:03 AM

To summarize,

With the light theme,
- lists to choose from in edit mode (tags for instance)
- lists in preferences (task editor options for instance)
both first appear black text on black background, switch to white backgound when touching the screen, then black on black again...

With the dark theme
All text edit boxes are black text on black background

So neither theme is actually usable without considerable hassle.
i find myslef switching from one theme to another every other hour, sometimes every other minute!

You promised a fix "within two hours", that was almost two days ago now...

I don't want to sound harsh, but this needs an urgent fix since it really breaks the usability of the software!

#759 Subtask behavior with Toodledo

Posted by mikenanimous on 14 January 2013 - 02:42 AM

I sync Due Today with a free subscription of Toodledo. If I create subtasks with repeats in Due Today, how does this sync with Toodledo? After completing a parent task (assuming it repeats), will the parent and subtasks appear at their next due date in Due Today even though my Toodledo account doesn't support this?

#199 Incorrect date format

Posted by joeh on 29 October 2012 - 03:10 PM

I've just purchased Due Today as it looked quite promising, but one annoying problem is that dates are displayed in U.S. format rather than international format.  My locale is set to English (Australia) which should be d/m/y.

Three places I see this:

1. Task list (shows 1 November as 11/1 which to me looks like 11 January).

2. Task summary (shows "Due November 1, 2012" which should be "Due 1 November 2012" but less important due to month being spelled out.

3. Date button in notes edit (inserts Nov 1, 2012 9:07:50 AM) which I thought was fixed in the latest release, but this is also less important due to month being spelled out.

Any chance of a fix?
