Hi,
I might be imagining it, but I seem to recall a tweet a little while back asking whether we would be interested in having more customisation ability for views in the main Due Today list. I've recently encountered a situation where this would be helpful.
I grabbed a copy of Personal Kanban in a Nutshell and wanted to see if I could apply some of these techniques to Toodledo tasks. The best fit seems to be the Toodledo status field, specifically the Next Action, Waiting and Active values. The backlog would be all tasks with no status. Completed tasks can just be those marked as completed (no specific status required).
To make this more useful I would like one of two things:
1) [Ideal] A way to have something like an "agile board" or "Kanban board" where I could have three columns on screen at once, showing me cards for tasks in each of these statuses.
2) [More likely solution] A way to have multiple status views in the main Due Today list, such that I can quickly see each of the Kanban status (and their task counts) and move into that particular view. Please note that the Next view represents one of the three views I personally would use, but I can't find a way to easily add the two other views I require short of some klunky use of filters I'd prefer to avoid. And other users might choose to use different status values from myself so limiting the design to my particular field values might not be advisable.
A further tweak on option 2). It might be easiest to have another view similar to the Context view (which contains separate sub-views for each context) for Status, and to automatically show sub-views for each state. That would seem to cover all likely use of the status field while still being consistent with the current UI design. Having the three status (that I'm interested in) as top level views in the main view list might create coding headaches or UI inconsistencies so I thought it best to mention this option.
Any chance you could add this feature into a future release please? I use Due Today on both smart phone and tablet and this would help make it even more useful for me on all those screens (4in, 7in and 10in).
Thanks,
Matt
