Thank you all for your patience. I know it's been a long while since the Windows client was last updated. I've recently moved to a new release pattern so any issues will be fixed in a much more timely manner.

That said, here's what's new:

  • Removed a prompt to delete a project when it contains no subitems
  • Made a change to retrieve tasks from Lakeridge's server in smaller chunks
  • Fixed several crashes
  • Removed the attempt to email a user when a task is delegated to them
  • Fixed a bug where setting a due date on a project caused all sub-projects to be marked as overdue
  • Fixed some random freezing
  • Fixed a bug where reminders weren't dimissed properly
  • When hiding future tasks, the future view will display them instead of just the counter
  • Fixed a bug where reminders weren't dimissed properly
  • Fixed a crash that occurred while loading today's tasks
  • Excluded completed projects from the filter conditions
  • Fixed a crash that occurred when editing filters or custom views
  • Fixed a crash that occurred when trying to select all reminders in the reminder window using Ctrl+A
  • Made a change to attempt to load the database backup automatically if the database has become corrupted
  • Newly created tasks are highlighted in the task list
  • Fixed a bug where completed projects appeared in the task and project editors' project dropdown list
  • Made a change to fix an invalid packet error
  • When setting a project to On-Hold the user will be prompted to set the same status to all sub-projects
  • Fixed a bug where the week view did not remember its sorting method
  • Fixed a bug where changing sync servics did not actually reset the synchronization data
  • Added the ability to filter based on the "Completed" date
  • Added an option to allow start dates without due dates on tasks
  • If a project contains notes, an note icon will appear in the project treeview

Thanks for the update! I have a question regarding this change-

  • Removed the attempt to email a user when a task is delegated to them

Is there a way to send an email from the windows application at all or do we have to use the "share" feature in the android app?

And a followup to that- any plans to incorporate collaboration so tasks assigned to a team member will automatically show up in their duetady inbox?

For right now, use the share button in the Android app. The automatic email on the Windows client was a problem as it was using MAPI (aka Outlook) and it was failing quite frequently for a lot of users.

Now that the sync server seems to have stabilized for the most part, I will be able to add the task/project assignment feature for all users, whether they're using Due Today's sync server or ToodleDo's. For ToodleDo users it will have to use Due Today's servers since ToodleDo does not support third-party task assignments right now.

So, yes, I do plan on incorporating collaboration in some manner. I've just got to design it first. If you have suggestions, please send them my way.

Thanks for the prompt reply Chris. I was having issues with the 32bit MAPI playing nicely with 64bit outlook- i won't miss the nagging errors :).

I am SO glad to hear task/project assignment syncing is on the roadmap!!

I'm not good with visual design but i don't think much would need to change on the front end. I already have my team setup as contacts within the application (including email address) and i think triggering the event would be done via the delegation/assign task fesature already present.

Workflow to me would basically be:

I assign a task to one (or more) team member-> a trigger is sent to due today sync server-> email address of team member can be verified in teh due today sync database. if it matches, the task appears in their due today inbox so they can assign context etc... if their email is not found, an email can be sent to them with info about what they can do the get due today sync and collaboration working.

If the team member alters the task (adding notes, changing due date, marking it complete), it would then push the change back to me, update the task in my list and notify me of what changed.

I think that would be a solid initial offering. it would be great to eventually add more features and true collaboration but i would be thrilled to just have it auto add tasks/projects to my team's list and update me on their progress.
